The PD 4020L OEM partial discharge tester helps you test the dielectric strength of insulating materials and insulation systems. Whether testing individual insulating materials, such as plastics or coatings, or testing powertrain components, such as stators or connectors; whether in the lab or on the production floor; whether in small- or large-scale production: The PD 4020L is suitable for all environments and requirements and delivers highly sensitive measurement results with precise repeatability!
Partial discharges, induced by an external high-voltage or surge voltage tester, can be detected using active measurement technology, either via radio waves or inductively. Radio wave measurement technology is the first choice for open test specimens, such as a stator. For enclosed or shielded test specimens, such as inverters or motors, partial discharges can be measured inductively via the test specimen’s connection cables.
The various measurement methods, tailored to the test specimen, can be conveniently performed using our DAT 3810 control software. The measurement system is designed in accordance with the DIN EN 60270 and 60664-1 standards and can be used without any problems under virtually all production conditions! The unit also supports the measurement method specified in IEC 61934!
Note on Calibration for Surge Tests and Partial Discharge Measurements
Only factory calibrations in accordance with our specifications can be performed here. For the surge test, this includes verifying the generator voltage at three voltage levels, measuring (with an oscilloscope) the displayed surge voltage at three voltage levels, and verifying the time scale via a test surge using the D4010 dummy. For partial discharge measurement, three voltage levels are simulated and tested using our CR 4000 simulator.
